Bassinet and Cradle

If your baby is younger than six month then Bassinets and cradles are best for them. So these are generally small, temporary and portable. You have the choice among these two. Either you can buy bassinet or cradle for your baby. The difference between both is bassinets are typically stationary but cradles are a little heavier and you can keep it anywhere anytime according to your convenience.

Whatever you choose for your baby it should have a wide base and sturdy construction. You may go for foldable and adjustable bassinets but be sure that all the locks and latches that hold its legs in place are well made and secure. If it has wheels then it must have a wheel lock system attached to them.

Mattresses

Always choose the mattress that fits in snugly with no loose edges. Make sure that it should not have any rough edges on inside. Take care that the mattress in the bedding is firm. The bedding should be soft that it may not suffocate the baby.

Cribs

You can also decorate the room of your baby with wooden or metallic cribs. Ensure that the distance between the cribs slats is no more than 2 3/8 inches so that any accident may not occur. Buy the crib keeping in mind its safety features, style, finish and quality.

Two types of standard baby cribs are available- one with a single drop side and another with double drop sides. Always check and be sure that the crib has a secure drop-side locking mechanism, no peeling paint, uneven and rough corners and edges, a firm and sturdy mattress support, adjustable mattress height and a teething rail.

High Chair

A High Chair now a days has become an essential piece of baby equipment that all new parents need. Choose the highchair depending on your personal style, needs and preferences. But keep in mind the eating habits, age and weight of your baby. Various types of these chairs are available in the market like Adjustable, Booster, Conventional and Wooden. You can choose any of these chair according to your need and budget.

Always use safety strap to strap your baby during feeding time. Do not allow your baby to stand up in the chair, as it may fall over. And the most important thing read the instructions book.

Changing Table

These tables provide a safe, convenient and sanitary place for you to change the diaper of your baby. These are generally available in three types – fold-up changing tables, wooden changing tables with guardrails and hinged chest adapters.

Play yards are one of the ideal baby furniture items. They are very convenient and safe. These are also portable. You can choose any stylish and branded baby play yards. These are available in many colors and models.

Check that the latches and hinges are secured properly and cannot be opened up by baby. Do not leave your baby unattended in the play yard.
