Global warming and Rising sea level

Global Warming Facts and Impacts of Change
Several leading scientists says - It is expected that water level of oceans will rise by one meter, or about 39 inches due to Global warming. Global warming will result in melting glaciers, disappearing ice sheets and warmer waters expanding, rising waters will swamp the locations of big city airports and major interstate highways.
Dr. Waleed Abdalati, head of the Cryospheric Sciences Branch at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. said, It is estimated that more than 100 million lives are potentially impacted by a one-meter (3.3-foot) increase in sea level. When you consider this information, the importance of learning how and why these changes are occurring becomes clear.
Dr. Raj continued -The sea level has raised about .18 centimeters (.07 inches) per year but the problem has aggravated now, it grew to .3 centimeters (.12 inches) per year. The scientists feel that half of its rise is due to expansion of ocean water.
Dr. Steve Nerem, Associate Professor, Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research, University of Colorado, Boulder is of the opinion that the other source of rising sea level is the fall of ice on land, which grows and shrinks.
Dr. Raj Baldev continued - In my opinion, there are several factors responsible for raising the sea level, one is the change which is occurring in the quantity of ice that covers the Earth.
You may be aware that about three-fourths of Earth water is stored in glaciers and ice sheets. Dr. Eric Rignot, principal scientist for the Radar Science and Engineering Section at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif supports this reason.
This is absolutely correct that the amount of water in glaciers and ice sheets comes to about 67 meters (220 feet) of sea level. In my view, the water rise in sea level is due to global warming and it is dangerous, apart from melting of ice from the Greenland, West Antarctica Amundsen Sea and mountain glaciers.
Dr. Raj Baldev said, As a result of global warming, there has been occurring a big change in temperatures for some years back. The temperature is slowly climbing higher and higher. Due to this reason, the ice cover is shrinking faster than ever. In addition, the ice is getting melted from the Greenland, West Antarctica Amundsen Sea and mountain glaciers, and this reason is strong enough to hike extra water in the sea level.
Dr. Raj Baldev continued - It is a good thing that the satellites are now capable of measuring the rise or fall of the sea water accurately, the only worrying point is why it is rising and what shall be its effect?
In short the sea water level is rising mainly due to variations in the Earth gravitational field apart from global warming, and these are the basic main reasons.
The former reason gives lift to the latter and the latter cause makes the ice to melt from the Greenland, West Antarctica Amundsen Sea and mountain glaciers. If proper measures are not taken and the matter is allowed to continue and the global warming is not taken care of, the sea rise shall go abruptly higher and higher and may engulf a few leading cities of the world to sink like big ships in course of time. Dr. RB concluded.
Dr. Raj Baldev said, There is a good news that the scientists have realized very recently that the sea level has been rising for the last 50 years.
