Gujjar Andolan : Raj. Govt. put National Security Act

A day after Gujjars spurned Chief Minister’s suggestion for nomadic tribe status to the community, Rajasthan government today clamped National Security Act in 15 violence-hit districts as the agitation by the community today spread within the State and threatened to spill over to the national capital region.
The collectors have been empowered to arrest anyone disturbing law and order and public peace by any act of nuisance, Principal Secretary said.
To maintain law and order in districts of Dausa, Bharatpur and Alwar, about 22 army columns and 76 columns of different security personnel have been deployed,
The Rajasthan government followed up cases of murder, arson and violence slapped against Baisla with a contempt plea for allegedly violating High Court order restraining the community leadership from taking law into their hands. The High Court today issued notice to Bainsla on the contempt petition.
Baisla Said On the High Court issuing notice to him : “I will face the case personally”.
Vowing to continue his agitation, Bainsla asked the Centre to examine the community’s demand for ST status saying he would not settle for anything less that.
The trains that were cancelled are August Kranti Express, Nimach Link Express, Nizamuddin-Udaipur Intercity, Nizamuddin-Indore Intercity, Janta Express, Nizamuddin-Kota Jan Shatabdi Express and Gujarat Sampark Kranti.
Bandra-Nizamuddin, Maharashtra Sampark Kranti, Muzaffarpur-Bandra Avadh Express and Ahmedabad-Asansol Parasanath Express were also cancelled today.
the Union Home Ministry put the NCR on high alert in the wake of the community’s announcement that it would stall movement of trains in the region and Jammu.
The Home Ministry is taking the threat seriously and the minister Shivraj Patil met the Delhi Police Commissioner to work out a strategy to protect Delhi.
They’ve decided to focus on the entry-points to Delhi like Loni, Badarpur and Gurgaon.
Thus, Delhi government is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that there isn’t any unpleasant incident during the Gujjar protests in the NCR.
