Situated at an altitude of 2730 meters, Gulmarg is also known as the meadow of flowers. It is a world famous tourist spot in the Baramulla district of Kashmir. Gulmarg is famous world wide for having the highest green golf course. This beautiful hill station is favorite destination for the tourists as it offers amusements of the winter sports and also skiing. Added attraction is the cable car up to Kongdori. The longest ski run in Gulmarg is provided by the Gondala cable car, which allows a ski run of 2213 meters. On a clear day, you can get the rare glimpses of the Nanga Parbat in one direction and Srinagar in the other from Gulmarg.

Gulmarg is 57 km southwest from the capital city of Srinagar and is close to the Indo-Pakistan border.

Khilanmarg

It is the favorite spot for skiing in winters. You can get the beautiful views of the Kashmir valley and the Himalayan range from Khilanmarg. You can reach here by pony, which takes a couple of hours.

Alpather Lake

This picturesque alpine lake remains frozen until late June. From Khilanmarg the lake lies across the Apharwat peak.

Shrine of Baba Reshi

Do not forget to visit the shrine of Baba Reshi, a Muslim mystic saint.

Gulmarg is an ultimate destination for skiing. The skiing season at Gulmarg is from November to February. The slopes here vary between 8,700 and 10,500 feet, which make the ski runs the highest in India. It is to be noted that Gulmarg is the only heli-skiing resort in Asia. You can also enjoy with the ski lifts and the chair lifts.
