Every kids and parents find it hard to deal with homesickness. Parent never wants to see his/her child unhappy, especially so far away from home. But most of the intelligent parents also know that if time is given, the majority of kids do happily adjust.
Here are some tips to overcome your child from homesickness.
1. Asks your child also at the time to choose the camp. Read the brochures carefully, and visit if possible. If you involve your child in the decision, they would feel a sense of ownership over it and to be happier with its outcome.
2. Try to discuss your and your child expectations for the separation. Mentally prepare your child for any uncertainties. This would increase their confidence and always express confidence that your child will do just fine.
3. Sometimes have practice separations. These practice separations will enhance the confidence of your child.
4. Asks your child to set times to call or how often s/he will write.
5. Visit the place where your child will be staying.
6. Involve your child in the packing.
7. At the time of departure be cheerful.
8. Never make promises to bring your child home early if s/he does not like it. This would reduce their confidence.
9. Avoid telling your child that how much you miss him/her. This could make the separation even harder.
Though these are some tips, which would help your child cope with the situations like homesickness. But even after these preparations sometimes the child may feel homesick-may be for a couple of a week.
Do not over react over these situations. In these conditions try to encourage your child to participate. Tell them how much you are excited to hear about all these new things in the life of your child. Stay calm and upbeat, as children take their cues from the people they look up to most.

Talk with a counselor to find out how your child is doing. These camp counselors are appointed to deal with homesick children and their worried parents. This would put your mind at ease.
