How to care dry skin?

This type of skin is unable to retain moisture. People having dry skin feel tight and uncomfortable after washing unless moisturizer is applied on it. Dryness of the skin is caused by wind, temperature and air-conditioning. It looks dull, especially on the cheeks and around the eyes.
Causes
* The oil glands present in our skin do not supply enough lubrication to the skin so the skin becomes dry.
* Skin gets dry in winter.
* Certain genetic condition.
* Poor diet. Deficiencies of vitamin A and the B vitamins
* Certain environmental factors such as exposure to sun, wind, cold etc.
* Chemicals, especially present cosmetics, or excessive use of harsh soaps.
* Certain diseases are also caused due to dry skin like thyroid, diabetes etc.
* Certain drugs can also contribute to dry skin.
How To Care for Dry Skin
1. Avoid the use of tap water to clean dry skin. Also avoid hot water to clean your face. Use mineral water to wash your face. Donot use a washcloth-it will cause irritation on your skin.
2. After cleansing, always use moisturizer to increase the water content of the outer layers of the skin.
3. Never use any commercial soap.
4. Before taking a bath apply mild baby oil on the skin.
5. Before going to sleep massage your face with homemade nourishing cream.
6. Every morning before taking bath apply a mask of 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon orange juice, 1 teaspoon olive oil and few drops of rose water, few drops of lime juice on your skin.
7. Take a milk bath once in a week to nourish and smoothen your skin.
Diet
* Eat lots of fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, seeds, and nuts.
* Take diet rich in the vitamins A, vitamin B5 and C
* Drink at least 7-8 glass of water every day to keep the skin well hydrated.
* Fried foods, animal fats, and heat-processed vegetable oils should be avoided.
* Avoid oft drinks.
* Avoid too much of sugar, chocolate, potato chips, or other junk foods.
* Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
Tips
* Take sufficient sleep
* Exercise daily to boosts circulation and encourages blood flow.
* Do not get overexposed to the sun.
* Apply mashed ripe banana on the face and throat. Leave on for few minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.
* Do not smoke. Smoking makes the skin dry.
