How to control cholestrol level?

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance. It is made in the liver. It is found in certain foods mainly in the dairy products, eggs and meat etc. Our body needs a small amount of cholesterol in order to function properly. But when it increases in the body, it creates several problems such as coronary heart disease.
How much cholesterol is desirable?
On an average less than 200 is desirable. But more than 240 will be high risk for the body.
Factors affecting the Cholesterol Level
Diet- Fat and cholesterol in the food increase the cholesterol level in the body.
Weight- Overweight also increases the cholesterol level.
Age- As the age increases, cholesterol levels also raises.
Some other causes - Certain medicines and medical conditions also increases the cholesterol level.
How to reduce the Cholesterol
Few simple changes can help to decrease your cholesterol
Eat low cholesterol foods- avoid food containing fat.
Quit smoking- smoking increases the level of the cholesterol, which ultimately increases the risk of heart disease.
Exercise- exercise daily to control weight, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
This will reduce the level of cholesterol in the body.
Cholesterol-lowering medicines can be taken to reduce the cholesterol. All medicines should taken as prescribed by the doctor.
