How to transfer picture to your computer?

Originally the only way to transfer images to a computer was via a cable link between the camera and the serial port of computer.
Cameras generally have the cables with software that can be loaded onto a computer. It then allows the transfer to take place. But the two main drawbacks this method has are
(1) The rate of transfer is very slow and
(2) The number of pictures that could be stored in the camera at any given time was limited.
To overcome these problems now there are two methods for transferring the images. These methods are more superior then the original solution.
(1) By using a cable, connect the camera to your computers USB port. After that by using software provided with the camera, and few mouse clicks the pictures are loaded. To make the loading even more straighter forward, a series of USB card readers are now available.
(2) If your computer does not have USB functionality then you will have to use a card reader, which are attached to the computer. Now load the card into the reader and upload the pictures.
If you are having a more basic model camera, then the pictures may be in the built-in memory of the camera. You can only download the pictures to the computer through serial cable, which is very slow procedure. Therefore consider this as one of the key points in making decision as to what camera to buy.
