The money control writes in its article “Bharti Airte has pulled out of the MTN deal citing too many movements from the latter’s side as reason for the talks being called off. The Indian telecom major had signed the term sheet on May 16 which was presented to MTN, which then came out with a fresh proposal on Thursday. That was unacceptable to Bharti.

But now MTN has issued a release, which says that they have been approached by Reliance Communications group with regards to the potential business combination. They have agreed to enter into an exclusive negotiation for the next 45 days. There is no certainty that these discussions will result in transaction and shareholders have been advised to exercise caution as part of the same release, but they do say that MTN and Bharti were not been able to reach an agreement on a suitable transaction structure. So by mutual agreement, they have ended their discussion.
