Every person in his life comes across the time when he has to face an interview. One has to keep prepared him selves before going to interview. This page will help you to prepare yourself for the interviews.
1. Right time and right place
Always get confirmed about the venue and the time for your interview 24 hours beforehand. Be sure about your conveyance. If you are going with your own vehicle then properly check it. If you are not taking your own vehicle then get the up-to-date timetables for public transport.
2. Appearance
In your interview you will be judged by your attitude as well as your appearance. Always greet your interviewer with a firm handshake, make an eye contact and flash them a winning smile.
3. Job specification
Be aware about the job specification. For this seek the help of your consultant and make sure you understand what the job entails. Find out the form the interview will take, whether it is a one-on-one or panel interview? Would the company take test to assess your skills?
Last but not the least make sure you know about the company. For this find out where the company stands in the marketplace and which companies are its main competitors. Its good if you talk to someone who works there.
4. Anticipate questions, prepare answers
The questions, which are asked in the interview fall into four categories:
* About you self,
* About your work history,
* Your skills and work experience,
* Finally about the company and the job.
By these questions the interviewer wants to get an insight into your personality. Further you may be asked the reason about your quitting the current job. Do not get confused about it. Answer these questions with confidence.
5. Present your skill
An interviewer has to come across many candidates in a day. He or she will remember only one who had something interesting to say. So try to find out your skills, your strengths, achievements, and the areas that can give you weight to you than other candidate. Record all these in your CV.
6. Communication Skill
Sometime the interviewer may check out your communications skills. Give short and sweet answer to every question asked.
7. Presentation
Sometimes in your interview you may be asked to make a presentation. Remember to keep the content short and simple. Practice in your home for this by speaking a few times in front of the mirror. This will not only build your confidence but also help you get your timing right.
8. Ask questions.
You may come to the situation when you would be asked as -Have you got any questions? The worst answer to this question is no. You can ask about various aspects of the job that are important to you.
9. Take notes
Take notes. This would be useful as a reminder of important points if you were called to a second interview. It will also help in your own decision-making if you have one or more job offers.
10. Exit gracefully
This is the most important part of the interview. Always leave the interview in a polite and assured fashion, have an eye contact with the interviewer, and finally give them a firm handshake and smile.
Make a follow-up letter and post it within 24 hours. It will show that you are enthusiastic.
All this point will help you to face the interview confidently and be successful in it.
