A lucid dream or also called as conscious dream is a dream where we are aware that we are dreaming. We are well aware that everything happening around us is a dream and made up by our own mind.

In lucid dream, you dreams amazing thing. You can transform yourself into an animal or bird, become invisible, fly away through a window, and step through a mirror. We can say that one can do everything that he/she can imagine. One thing, which is noteworthy, is you can take advantage of your lucid dreams. You can control your fears, trying to understand your dreams symbols, or ask for answers to your questions, or simply you can use your dreams to gain knowledge about yourself and to grow spiritually.

Reasons for lucid dreaming

Adventure and Excitement

You may sometimes dreams adventurous in your dream like instead of walking or driving to your work place, you can fly or sometime you become the main character of any storybook or movie and live for a short while in that story. These are some exciting dreams, which you may have in the lucid dreams. It will take few minutes for you to fully appreciate the idea that you can do whatever you imagine—you will likely think things are not possible during your first few lucid dreams, and be unable to do them.

Stopping Nightmares

Lucid dreaming can play a very important role in to help to remove the fear of nightmares. With dream control you can completely alter the setting and context of your dream, effectively defeating your nightmare. You are consciously aware that you are dreaming and thus this will lessen the fear of nightmares. You know that the situation is not real.

Lucid dreaming helps to get rid of nightmares permanently. It is psychologically beneficial as it provides the opportunity to the individual to face up his or her fears on his or her own terms, which is actually not that possible in the waking world.

Problem Solving

You go to sleep to take rest. It is important to note that the brain is highly active when one goes to sleep as compared to when one is awaken. The brain is most creative during the period between waking and sleep. This is due to the fact that the brain is not focused on our senses, such as sight, hearing, etc. at that time. Thus, the brain is focused more readily on creative problem solving.

Are the lucid dreams dangerous?

Some people think that sometimes the lucid dreams are so exciting and pleasurable that they will become addicted of it and sleep their life away. It is not so but the fact is that the lucid dreams can be inspirations for how to act and improve in reality. These dreams can make your waking reality more exciting and enjoyable.
