Hundreds turn out for Norwich Memorial Day Parade today
The Norwich Bulletin writes in its article “Forty years ago, Dan Curran patrolled the fetid Vietnamese waters near Da Nang as part of the U.S. Navy’s wartime river forces, floating past humid, steaming jungles with his crewmates—many of who never made it home.“We lost 28 men when their boats were hit by mortar fire,” said Curran, 68, of Norwich. “Most people see Memorial day as a holiday, a day off of work. It’s not. It’s a day to pay respect to those that went before us and made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.”
