Products and Services of Google
Google provides a free internet search engine with advertisements placed along side. For e.g. in 2005, Google generated almost all of its income from the Ad Words advertising program. It also distributes ads to search partner companies. In 2005, Google purchased dodgeball.com, which is a new social networking site built specifically for mobile phones.
Froogle is the shopping search engine of Google. It helps searching online shopping websites for products based on price. The company launched Google Video that allows users to search and view freely available videos. It also offers various media publishers to offer their content for a fee, including television shows on CBS, NBA basketball games and music videos.
The road maps for the United States, Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Western Europe and Japan can be viewed in Google Maps. The satellite images are also available for the entire globe. The Google Moon and Google Mars provide satellite imagery of the Moon and Mars, respectively.
Google Earth provides the user to get any information on the earth, close enough to make out cars, and people. The company has also launched its own free web-based email service, known as Gmail. In August of 2005, Google introduced Google Talk, a Jabber-based instant messaging service.
Google desktop is another service of Google. It brings the search engine to the local computer desktop. This allows one to search individual files, folders, and emails that reside locally on ones own PC.
Google Calendar is a shared calendar application.
Google SketchUp is a program that allows users to make buildings to put in Google Earth.
Four new products namely Google Co-op, Google Desktop 4 (an updated version of Google Desktop), Google Notebook, and Google Trends are introduced in May, 2006.
