All of the satellites launched from earth are artificial satellites i.e., they are all man made rather than natural satellites like moon which is a celestial body which orbits or revolves round a planet.

A Times of India, net edition news item describes India setting a world record by launching 10 satellites at one go through PSLV C9 from Shriharikota.  read more

Little known Shriharikota can be more explored athttp://www.astronautix.com/sites/sriikota.htm

The Wikipedia describes an artificial satellite as :

Basically satellites are not mass produced and each one has its own work to do.  During the early eras, these satellites were custom built mainly for the military purpose and it was in the later stage they made their way into the life of civilised society by way of communication, entertainment and information to name a few.
