50 CAT Centres Closed On First Day of Online Test, CAT fails online test

At the Prometric Test Centre at Management Education and Research Institute, Janakpuri some 46 students could not take the test because of technical glitches. At the Asia-Pacific Institute of Management (AIM), Sarita Vihar 24 students could either not take the test at all or could not complete it because of same reasons. In most centres students talked about "gross mismanagement”.

Examinees, IIM alumni and teachers from across the country are now asking whether Prometrics was even prepared to conduct a test at such a scale. Two days before the test commenced, Times City had raised questions about the reliability and security of computer-based admission tests. The doubts seem well-founded now.
Students across the city complained of log-in problems, computers that required rebooting several times and crashed midway through the test or ended the test without presenting the stipulated number of questions.
"I was given computer number 38 and the computer showed number 39. Later a technician rectified. I was given extra time but it unsettled me. Computers malfunctioned during the test and in case of two people, ended the test after they had answered only two questions. Still others took 15 minutes just to log in,” said Abhinav Singh, a student of PGDAV College who had gone to give his examination at AIM.
