The Chief Minister of Haryana Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the Haryana Government would construct about 50,000 houses during the next three years to fulfill the growing demand. The express india writes in its news “Laying the foundation stone of Vishva Karma Institute of Human Settlement, Management and Research and administrative-cum-hostel building at Gurgaon, Hooda said the Haryana Housing Board would construct 3,222 houses at Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Sonepat, Madlauda, Bahadurgarh, Bhiwani, Gurgaon, Dharuhera and Faridabad and out of these 808 dwelling units have been earmarked for the people belonging to Economically Weaker Sections(EWS) and Lower Income Group (LIG).

The CM said since the inception of the Haryana Housing Board, 62,537 houses have been constructed by the Board and out of these 11,641 have been constructed for the EWS that constitutes 18.61 per cent and 33,473 for LIG, constituting 53.53 per cent, 11,109 houses for MIG, 3,351 houses for HIG and the remaining 2,963 for other categories were constructed.

He said about 14 per cent of total urban population lived in slum-like conditions and 35 per cent of the households lived in one room tenants and almost 21 percent of urban households were living semi-pucca and kutcha houses. ”
