An earthquake of 4.1 magnitude occurred at 0853 GMT and its epicentre was 17.3 degrees north latitude and 73.9 degrees east longitude, it shook parts of Maharashtra on Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, the Meteorological Office said.
“The earthquake’s centre was near Satara in Maharashtra and tremors were felt in Mumbai, Pune and at some other places in the state,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department’s Mumbai office.
A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 shook the town of Koyna in March and was also felt in Mumbai.
