Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33 Vs. DMC-FX35 Comparison

Pansonic Lumix DMC FX-55 has a review at Trusted Reviews and final verdict is “Panasonic keeps chipping away at Canon’s position in the premium ultra-compact market, and with the wide-angle Lumix DMC-FX33 it has a camera that can take on the best of the IXUS range. It has style, elegance, build quality, performance and simplicity of operation, and while it is slightly lacking in picture quality it will seldom disappoint, producing good pictures in almost any situation”.

Lumix DMC FX-55 has a review at ePhotozine and final verdict is “While it can feel a little limited compared to the more powerful sibling, the FX100, the FX33 is a perfectly capable little camera. It’s well built and can happily tumble around the bottom of a bag before being called upon to grab a holiday or family member shot. It has a good ISO range though ISO 1250 and 1600 are only usable either very small in colour, or in black and white. It might not deliver outstanding clarity and detail, but the images are certainly well saturated and will draw no complaints in this market sector. The FX33 also has that burst mode performance party trick as well. The build quality, decent overall performance and the 28mm wide angle lens, combined with the general ease of use make it an ideal compact to carry around on holiday or in the bottom of a bag, waiting to be called upon for family or pet shots”.

In its verdict of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33 , Cnet writes ”

The Good

  • Competent automatic mode
  • Minimalist looks
  • Relatively speedy performance
  • Wide-angle lens

The bad:

  • Very average optical zoom
  • No real option for switching to manual mode

The bottomline:

If you really crave a literal point-and-shoot camera, and could do without most manual controls, the FX-33 is possibly be your best bet so far”.

Panasonic Lumix DMC FX-55 has a review at Good Gear guide and final verdict is “We also ran our speed tests, and this model performed quite well. It exhibited a fairly tiny 0.05-second shutter lag, 1.8 seconds between shots and a slightly more sluggish 2.5 seconds power up time. On another note, what was really impressive was the burst mode, which operates at 3.6 frames per second albeit for only four shots. A more sedate three frames per second mode is on offer if you wish for more than just four frames. The features list is similarly robust, offering ISO sensitivities up to 1600, preset and custom white balance modes, Intelligent ISO adjustment, Panasonic’s standard Mega O.I.S (Optical Image Stabilisation) and Face Detect. There are also 22 scene modes and the aforementioned Intelligent Auto option”.

In its Review of Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33 , Computer Shopper writes “The Intelligent Auto mode analyzes the subject and sets the most appropriate scene mode (such as Night Portrait or Scenery), exposure, shutter speed, and ISO for the current scene. It also employs face recognition and continuous autofocus. In tests shooting subjects ranging from fast-moving cars to kids standing outside at night, the DMC-FX33 made the right decisions far more often than not, with most shots focused on the proper subject and showing accurate exposure and white balance. The mode isn’t perfect, but we saw a higher percentage of good shots than is typical when leaving a camera in full automatic mode”.
