  The Samantha Geimer , 45 has filed court papers today that the charge against Polanski may be withdrawn as she is not interested in carrying charges forward. She is doing so avoid further trauma as the case may be publicized.

The CRIME : The Roman Polanski was arrested in Los Angeles in 1977 and pleaded guilty to "unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor", a 13-year-old girl Samantha Geimer.

Polanski was 44 years old at the time of the crime. Released after a 42-day psychiatric evaluation, Polanski fled to France. For decades, he has been considered by U.S. authorities to be a fugitive from justice while not returning to the United States. Polanski for many years avoided visits to countries that were likely to extradite him, such as the United Kingdom. However, according to media reports, he was arrested by Swiss police on September 26, 2009, on arrival at Zürich Airport while trying to enter Switzerland to attend the Zurich Film Festival, at the request of United States authorities.Prior to his arrest, he travelled mostly between France, where he resides, and Poland. As a French citizen, he was protected by France’s limited extradition with the United States.
